About Swarnaprash

Swarnaprash is an ancient and unique Ayurvedic Immunity boosting medicine like vaccination for children of age group 1 month -16 years. Swarnaprash is prepared with Swarna Bhasma (nano or colloidal particles of Gold ) and other herbal ingredients. Swarna means ‘Gold’, Prasha means ‘ linctus’ and Prashana means ‘act of administration’. This is one of the main rituals done after the birth of a baby (JataKarma samskara). It is also called Swarna Prashana (in the form of linctus), Swarna Bindu Prashana ( in the form of drops), Swarnamritha Prashan, Hiranya Prashana, Suvarnaprashana and Suvarna Prashan.

SLOKA

Meaning

Swarnaprashna enhances learning abilities (medha), memory, creativity, grasping power, enhances biological enzyme’s action (agni) , Improves immunity, physical and mental strength (balavardhanam). It increases lifespan (Ayush), produces healthy tissue (mangalam), maintains physical and mental health (punyam), stimulates reproductive and stem cell production (vrushyam), enhances skin-glow (varnyam), acts as anti-viral & anti- bacterial (grahaapaham). According to kashyapa, if swarnaprashana is administered daily for one month, then one becomes highly intellectual. One gains immunity against all kinds of diseases. If it is administered for six months, one gains photographic memory.

When should it be consumed?

Swarnaprash is advised to be administered on Pushyami Nakshatra every month. Pushyami Nakshtra is preferred because pushyami means nourishment and any medication taken on this day promotes growth and development. Pushyami nakshatra enhances the effectiveness of any medicine taken on Pushyami day.

Dosage:

It can be taken in either of the below two ways:
1. Monthly once ( on every Pushyami Nakshatra) for one year
or
2. Daily once for a period of 1- 6 months starting on Pushyami Nakshatra. (Reference: Kashyapa Samhitha). It can even be taken daily for one year ( Reference: Ashtanga Hridaya , Uttara Tantra 1/47-48 by Vagbhata)

Note: Dosage is customized according to each child’s need.
